2022 was another year full of landscaping design innovation, new trends, and successful projects. As we look forward to 2023, we recap the past year while gearing up for the new year ahead.
2022 Recap
This landscaping season we taught our clients about preparing your yard for crucial transitional seasons like spring and fall, recommending when to plant trees or add new hardscaping elements such as pools, patios, or decks. We also remembered the history of some of the most famous landscapes through time from the hanging gardens of 6th century Babylon to the the 17th century gardens of French and English manors that revived landscaping design. Despite the rolling lawns, a more functional type of landscaping flourished this year, the functional garden with herbs, vegetables, and fruits for clean eating and environmental security. Everyone loves a farm to table experience, but doesn’t always have the time or experience to sustain such a yard. That’s where our maintenance skills and services came in!
2023 Trends
In 2023 we’re focusing on architectural simplicity with elegant raised beds to help organize our landscaping better and keep everything in its place. From plentiful vegetable gardens to a nature-nurturing pollinator and bird friendly oasis, it’s important to keep all your plants working well together not only in aesthetics, but in functionality. If efficient functionality is your goal, try looking into plants that are resistant to poor water conditions and other extreme weather conditions. This will change on a case-by-case basis depending on where you’re located, your soil quality and makeup, as well as the usual or changing weather. Additionally, research has shown that the number one reason people are taking on an outdoor project is to create a space to relax and unwind which is promising for well designed hardscaping projects that offer functionalities such as fire pits, pizza ovens, water features, and more.
